mommy's shoes

Today I asked Miss M to put on her shoes for a quick excursion when she came out saying "Ready!" it made sense why I couldn't find mine. She loves wearing my shoes around the house and this was not the first where she tried leaving the house in one that were not hers. She tries so hard to act casual but the clomping sound that comes from wearing ones that are a bazillion sizes to large kinda give it away.

This is my favourite pair and while playing a photo game at SnC we were asked to take a photo of our favourite shoes. This is where I found mine. Again.

We're having an online crop this weekend, come play with us!! There's lots of fun and great challenges to participate in for a chance at some prizes!!! It's where I'm gunna be, when I'm not hunting for my shoes. ;0)

easy bake birthday

Growing up I've always wondered how people with holiday birthdays celebrated. When I married Joe I made it a point to celebrate his birthday first and foremost then finish his birthday with the New Years Eve celabrations. Plus there will always be fireworks just for him. ;0)

This year Maribel and I wanted to make his birthday extra special since he had to work, so we baked him a very special birthday cake. I remember loving my Easy Bake Oven so much and was so tickled when Maribel received one this Christmas. So far we've made cookies, cakes, and double layered creations with all sorts of frosting and sprinkles. Ahh love!

I know see where Maribel get's her FunDip tendancies as I couldn't resist dipping my fingers in the mix. Maybe some traditions are meant to be carried on...

relatively dramatic

I received a call today that little miss is having one of these days. She decided to test her chompers on a poor unsuspecting bud at daycare so we will be having the, "what do we use our teeth for" conservation and no t.v. I called Miss Patty and we had a nice conservation after I offered my apologies and assured her I fed Maribel breakfast this morning. I'm thinking some apology cookies are in order. Why does parenting have to be so tough?

stuff she says

Just wrapping up the long weekend with a little creativity and a lot of laughter. I'm a pretty sarcastic person. No it's true, it's my #1 survival skill and sometimes it gets bounced back to me by this little chicky.  She is always keeping us in stitches with the things that she says. I think what gets me the most is that she means every word.
Here's a little expination to each quote:

"Shang, DON'T DIE...because I love you." is from watching too much Mulan and this was the avalanche scene where he gets swept away by the snow. She's going to marry him in the temple. She tells me this often.

"You're so FLUFFY" quote was from after watching Despicable Me (for the umpteenth time) she grabbed my stomach and shook it. Nice boost of the self esteem right there.

"Mommy you have quite the rat's nest up there." e was when she brushed my hair right after we woke up. I have since then learned to pre-brush my hair before ever letting her do it on her own. YEOUCH!!

"Let's tell Heavenly Father to take the cold back to Canada 'cuz I want to go to the beach" was when we had our cold snap (yeh, yeh, Vic I know, it's all relative) and she wanted to go to the beach. I informed her that it was too cold for the beach and the cold weather was coming from Canada. She never misses a beat.

"Mommy, I like his Noo Noo's" Noo Noo's are breasts or pecs and came from her watching the part in Mulan where General Shang takes off his vest to teach the new recruites how to fight. His noo noo's are nice.....for a cartoon.

"Mommy is upset so I better go home with you, Grandma" is from her acting up in a reeeeeally nice resturant and Grandma tagged me out so I could sit down to finish my dinner. Oh she was such a stinker.

HA! Maribel just saw this photo as I'm typing this and says to me, "Why don't we do that again Mommy so you can take my picture with a popsicle. I'll go get one." That is her way of getting to eat a popsicle before supper. She's funny but she's sneaky too. I'm off to divert her path...

the next 355 days

So now that I have my word I have also set a few goals that I would like to achieve this year. Note that they are not “resolutions” (I don’t like that word) but things I want to do that either I haven’t done before or didn’t do enough of.
In no particular order:
Goal #1: Date my husband. I think I can count on one hand the number of actual dates we went on last year. I want to change that this year.
Goal #2: Read 12 books this year. I’m a slow reader but I love a good book.
Goal #3: Crochet Maribel a mini her like I did for my niece and nephew
Goal #4: Dance. Dance when no one is watching.
Goal #5: Learn a new song on the piano.
Goal #6: Fly home and bring Maribel to meet her Canadian family.
Goal #7: Finish the Unfinished craft projects of 2010:
             -cupcake apron
             -Dear Lizzy flower shirt
             -knitted scarf
             -December Daily project
Goal #8: Visit a local zoo.
Goal #9: Be in more pictures.

Goal #10: Bake more with Maribel.

As I complete some goals more will come along but this is a start. I don’t want to set myself up for failure. I’ve already started on #2 and one of #7. I must finish my December Daily album. I’m so close I can taste it!
Don’t worry, I’m not licking paper or eating glue. I gave that up years ago.

spirit orbs

I snapped this photo today while walking around the Orlando Temple grounds with my Instax camera. If you are a believer in spirit orbs in photos (like I am) then you might understand how stinking cool this is and how I couldn't keep it to myself.

Are you a believer? What do you think?

one little word with so much weight

I thought a lot about what my one little word shall be this year. I thought about how it can apply right now and how I can make it apply 360 days from now. As many inspiring and uninspiring words came fluttering in and out of my scattered thoughts one stuck around. Balance.

In 2010 I lost my balance a lot and stumbled and tripped my way through the year. There were a few moments where I caught myself, stood up straight and moved on but as more life happened the more off balance I became. I'm not a quitter so I have taken those learning moments for what it is, a learning experience that is not only character building but a reminder of why I am here. I am determined to learn and grow while I try my best to balance life's happenings.

So welcome 2011. I am ready for you and all that you have in store because as I walk the tight rope of life I know I have a safety net: Faith and the Gospel.

sunbeam

Well the time has come that our little Maribel is officially in Primary. No more church nursery 'cause this chicky is now a Sunbeam. Love.
I knew when I was asked to conduct our opening exercises I might have a little issue with the tear ducts and.... I was right. I was great up until I saw my own little onion walk in holding hands and taking her seat. My heart was so full of love, joy, pride, and fear (yes, fear-you parents know which type I'm talking about) that my eyes couldn't fight back the flood any more. I love my calling so so much and I am so excited that I get to share it with my little monkey. :D

I'm gunna be a total wreck come Kindergarten.
