here's what's up...

Right now I am driving across the continent with my Dad and making a few stops along the way while creating wicked memories that will last a lifetime.
In a nutshell.

Tonight we are currently staying in some el cheapo hotel in Vicksburg, Mississippi because our usual hotel is full. I’ve turned into a hotel snob during this trip but what’s killing me the most is being away from my little family for so long that I get text updates like these…

1st update was a sad one…
I received an email from my local scrapbooking store announcing that they will be closing their doors in the New Year. This is so sad.
The scrapbooking industry is ever changing and every time I hear about a local store closing it really is a sad day for the scrapbooking world. This is super duper sad for me 'cause now I will have to shop online and pay redonkulious shipping rates just to keep up. Of course I could just use what I’ve got but what’s the fun in that? I mean come on?

2nd update is another sad one…
My kitty Bijou hasn’t been eating much since I left.
It breaks my heart to hear that since she doesn’t usually come out of her hiding spot unless I’m there so I had this bright idea to call the house phone and leave her a little message on the answering machine. You should have seen the look on my dad’s face while he listened to me leave the message…needless to say he had different feelings about my message. I believe his words to me after I hung up was, “ Do you really think your cat is going to think, “Gee, my mistress is telling me to eat, maybe I should start eating because my mistress asked me to? …” OK so it was a little silly….

And the most recent update which isn’t a downer for a change....
My little onion lost another tooth!!!
She is writing a note to the Tooth Fairy to ask if she can wait until I get home to come pick up her tooth. This melted my heart into a giant puddle. I already miss her so much like nobody's business and when I hear things like this it just makes me miss her THAT much more....*sigh* Just 3 more days until I get to squeeze the boogies right out of her! But in the meantime I will be hitting the sac so the Sandman can pay me visit and sprinkle some of that sleepy dust over me.
Oh hey, speaking of the Sandman, doesn't that new movie The Rise of the Guardians look cool? I'm thinking this might be our Christmas movie we will see when I get back....ok I better get to sleep for real this time or I'll be in a rare form to drive tomorrow.

Bijou shooting me a grin for the camera. She's my kitty alright. I have to admit, this photo makes me giggle.
Happy Humpday!

what’s green & orange & white and smells like coconuts?

I woke up to silence and a sniff of coconut yesterday. Silence is never a good thing when you have kids. The first thing I found was an empty plastic tube and my coconut scented hand soap laying on the bathroom floor. The vile used to hold green glitter. Keywords here: “used to.”

You can only guess which of our rats was actually willing, crazy, and stupid enough to just sit there and let it happen.

I couldn’t help but chuckle at the look on his face while I was snapping the photos. You can see the defeat and humiliation in his eyes. Like he thought that maybe this time would be different. Poor Milo. It’s rough being Maribel’s favourite.

I hope your weekend was a good one and glitter free.

a nice wake up call

I woke up this morning to Mr. Milo giving me love bites. It's also his way to drop the hint that he wants to be petted. Nice.

Then Maribel comes waltzing in to wake me up by resting her little face centimeters from mine. So much for snoozing in. Double nice.

Then Joe comes in and tells me that we had a phone call this morning and he agreed that I would give the opening prayer in sacrament. Aww so nice.

I love Sunday mornings.

December already

And I still don't have my tree up yet. *sniff* I think this is the first time I haven't had our tree up early. It feels so weird. But I did, however, manage to get another layout done that I had sitting unfinished for eons and eons.

If you want to read the story just click on the photo to enlarge it

It's kind of hard to see but while the glitter was drying I had to step away for a moment to tend to Maribel. When I came back I noticed that I had a couple of glitter spots across the one side of the page and an orange kitty settling down across the top of the chesterfield with something twinkling from his little paw. Hmmm interesting. Milo was probably insulted that the LO was not about him. He's the jealous type.

Well here's hoping things settle down a bit long enough to get my tree up and decorated. I have the decorations out just begging to be dangling by a gold thread.

Have a happy Friday everyone!

my girls, well the fuzzy kind anyway

I don't know what happened but the photography fairy finally graced me with her presence in my sleep or something because...well just take a look at these.

Last night, late last night I must add-just before I went to hit the hay, I heard a little rustle on the couch. Pipa had plans on spending her night in the worlds loudest shopping bag. Seriously, these bags give off the earth shaking crinkle sound when you really want to be quiet. And I really was anxious to get some sleep-but not before I snapped a few. I was pleasantly shocked that she stayed relatively still while my shutter kept open long enough to catch this fuzzy scrumptiousness that is Pipa. She makes me giggle inside she's so stinkin cute and lovey.

Today right before I was going to wash the forever mounding pile of dishes, (have I mentioned how much I looooooooove washing dishes? No? Well, I love washing dishes as much as a Ferengi loves the word, "Probono." Been watching a lot of Star Trek lately, heh heh...*snort* *snort*...yes I am pushing up my glasses with my index finger) I took a peek over at my three rats disguised as sleeping cats in the afternoon sun and caught this sweet jewel.

Bijou is my kitty and she lets everyone know it too. We have this special bond and I really can't imagine my life with out her. This photo juiced my eyes-the best part is I didn't have to edit a darn thing. I love it when that happens!

Ooo {Insert Happy Dance here} I got my early Christmas present in the mail yesterday. Or a really late birthday present, or late anniversary present, or really early birthday present, or...okay, okay, a gift to myself. Any ways, I got my Photoshop Elements, yeah!!! So I've been playing around with it and downloading some super cool add ins, plug ins, whatever they are called. I'll get the lingo yet, give me a little time-I'll get there.

Anywho... Uh, I guess I had a lot to say for only posting 2 photos. If you've read this far, thanks for hanging in there. You rock!

Fabulous Finds!

Who doesn't love a good deal right?

Check out these wonders that happened into my shopping hands! Tee Hee!

Yellow top, Glass votive holder, and the little dish from Anthropologie (my new favourite store); Cute kickers, and Mossimo clutch, from Target; Serving trays from IKEA; yellow photo clutch; sweet new apron from Ross (gotta *heart* Ross);0)

I also included some of my favourite things that I have been diggin' these days. As you can tell, the colour yELloW is one of them. ;0) along with some studio g alpha stamps; my sweet iron turtle yarn holder; and of course Joe and I's new found love for the Bananagrams game! (We just won't mention how many times he kicks my butt. Nope. Shhhhhhh) LOL

Milo's tie (something that always makes me smile); some cute earrings; silicone cupcake bakeware. When I'm not chasing my subjects for pics, I'm caught playing my favourite game LocoRoco (this game is seriously the cutest ever! ;0)

If you notice the table I have everything on, it's one that my Grandaddy made many years ago. It's been at my parents house for as long as I can remember and when my Dad came down earlier this month, he brought it with him. I feel so blessed to have a little piece of his legacy. Family is so important to me and here is a photo of my mom (as a baby) with my grandparents. (My Grandaddy that built the table) They have all passed on so this family photo is extra special to me.

And just for kicks here is Mr. Milo sporting his spiffy tie. He looks like such a stud when he wears it around the house.

***I was inspired by Elizabeth Kartchner's blog entry called Monthly Merriment. She is very inspiring and it's such a fun blog to read. Go check her out here.

cheers!
