zooble run

I saw this neat idea in a Family Fun magazine where they used empty paper towel tubes and toilet paper tubes to create a marble run that would stick to the fridge with magnets. Since I had some leftover empty rolls from another project (which I will post later ;o) I thought this would be fun to use for Missy Pant's Zooble collection. We gathered up some supplies and had a little painting party and 30 messy minutes later......Voila!
Our very own Zooble Run!

The Zoobles are heavier than marbles and the track wouldn't stay up using the sticky backed magnet strips like the instructions suggested so we improvised until I can figure out a better way to make them stay up on the fridge. Meh, it works but I am open for suggestions.

I think the best part of this project was painting the tubes. Maribel likes the splatter and smear technique where I like to paint polka dots or self portraits like the one here...*wink*

Now every time Maribel sees an empty roll waiting for someone to change to a new one she instructs both Joe and I to keep them so we can add to the Zooble run. What ever works to keep her from glittering the cats and getting into stuff even if it's only for a half an hour. Hey, I'll take what I can get.

it's a crazy life

and I'm going to document it for an entire week.

I participated in this project last year and had a great ole time carrying my camera around snapping photos of every little thing. Well almost every little thing. Yes I do my daily things like scooping the cats litter etc. Do I take pictures of it? Not necessarily although I find this project as a great opportunity to practice my photography. I wouldn't say I have stellar photo skills or anything, but still it's great practice and another venue to journal our life.

So here goes day 1 of 7 and so far this is about what I've managed to accomplished:

Hey, I never said I lead an exciting life...

missing mojo

You know when things get really busy all of a sudden that you barely have time to do anything, let alone anything creative and then you finally have a wee bit of time and then what? Nothing.........I've been staring at a blank piece of card stock for 4 days now not knowing how I want to manipulate it into something creative so I stare. Just staring at the untouched piece of paper.

So then I thought I would come here and post a little something only to have the same results....staring......*blink* *blink* watching the cursor appear, disappear, appear again, then disappear over and over and over......

....as you can see I'm getting desperate. I'm really missing my mojo right now. Like, a lot. *sniff*

Mojo? Are you out there? Please come back.....please?

it's lunchtime

and today I'm...

listening to Alli Moss through headphones.
eating leftover whole wheat spaghetti & sauce with cucumber and carrot sticks and yogurt. Being on a diet stinks sometimes but if I chant "nothing tastes as good as skinny feels" over and over in my head I can get through it. Barely.
drinking lots and lots of iced cold water with fresh lemon slices.
wearing black maxi skirt, white top, with blue Anthro cardi and dress sandals.
feeling happy that I got my laptop to work even for this short while and a little unprepared for my talk/presentation this Friday.
weather partly cloudy with isolated thunderstorms and a high of 91F and low of 73F which translates to HOT!
wanting the mosquitoes to vamoose and find some other juicy morsel to leach from. oh and a new laptop.
needing to find my mojo so I can finish up some unfinished projects already, yeesh.
thinking about how excited I am that my family is coming down to visit me next month.
enjoying pictures my sister posted of some old family slides she scanned. Well, enjoying most of them. There's one of me in my "primal youth" that is less than flattering. Trust a sister to post those photos.

I was inspired by a photo I saw here. I love the idea of an ever changing list. It keeps things fresh.

bitter sweet

Long weekends are bitter sweet. With the sweetness of the weekend still lingering in my mind while I face the bitterness of reality of returning to work for the rest of the week wishing for the next holiday already.
Right now I just want to remember the sweet.
Because it was so stinking hot I thought it would be fun to drop a pin in our bucket and play with the hose for a bit. Joe, again with his amazing gift of finding things uber cheap, found this darling Miss Spider sprinkler at the thrift store for pennies. Ya, like I said it's either a gift or he's got horseshoes, lucky rabbit's feet, silver spoons, or whatever lucky token there is shoved up his *you know where* and I like it. ;0)
Miss Maribel had so much fun just running around and around trying to dodge the the various leg squirting things and moving them so they would squirt others. Stinker. ;0) I would have to say that Miss Spider will get a lot of use this hot summer. Lot's of use and I couldn't think of a better way to celebrate the 4th of July.
