elephants in your refrigerator

I just wanted to take a moment to drop a line and say hey. so, hey! I could go on and explain why I've been so busy and not blogging or updating status's as much but that's not as fun as telling jokes so here you go:

Q: How do you fit 4 elephants into a Volkswagen?
A: Two in the front and two in the back.

Q: How can you tell when an elephant has been in your refrigerator?
A: There's a set of footprints in your peanut butter.

Q: How can you tell when 2 elephants have been in your refrigerator?
A: There's 2 sets of footprints in your peanut butter.

Q: How can you tell when 3 elephants have been in your refrigerator?
A: There's 3 sets of foot prints in the peanut butter.

Q: How can you tell when 4, that's right FOUR elephants have been in your refrigerator?
A: There's a Volkswagen parked out front.

Okay, okay so these were funnier when I was 8. But M gets a kick out of them and since that's who my entire weekend was with, I guess the lack of adult conversation has finally caught up to me. buuuuut I do have some crafty goodness up my short short sleeves (because it's freaking 90+ degrees outside!!!!) so stay tuned! :D

Note: I just want you to know that I do not keep my peanut butter in the refrigerator because then it's hard to scoop out and spread. I dunno why I felt like I needed to explain that...

hubba bubba, summer is here

Today welcomes the first day of summer and to celebrate I gave Maribel a little bubble gum blowing lesson. She then reminded me that it is practically impossible for a kid to not pop someone else's bubbles. Nice.

I forgot the camera on the rapid fire when Joe tried photographing an upclose and personal lesson but can't help but giggle at how the lesson backfired. *pop*

Happy Summer everyone! I for one can't wait to start dropping things into our bucket. Yippee!

summer bucket list

I have to say that usually I do not look forward to summers especially in Florida because they are so hot and humid. Like, it's so hot I'm gunna diiiii-eee! Okay okay I'm being a little dramatic but still, it gets stinking hot here and I don't like it but for some strange unexplained reason I can't wait for this summer to hit. One night while perusing ye ol' in'ernet instead of sleeping I saw a neato idea of creating a bucket list of the fun things you want to do during the summer so naturally I got started right away. Who needs sleep anyways? Right? That's what I thoug .......................................zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz *snort* ...I'm awake, I'm awake.

First thing to do is create your list of fun things to do and maybe add some things that you've wanted to try but just never seemed to get there and write them out onto either little tags or you could write them directly on the pins. I had so many left over tickets from Maribel's birthday I thought it would be fun to write our things on those. I punched a little hole on the top and used some fun baker's twine to tie them to the pins and attached them to the bucket. Since I already had the bucket and pins and a list jotted down in my journal it was easy to put together.

I liked the idea of labeling clothes pins with the fun things you want to do and then dropping them in the bucket once you have completed that item. This would even look cute with an old mason jar too but you might have to use the pinchy squeazy open kind of clothes pins for them to fit over the lip. Ooo then you could cover them with paint and paper and stuff, yeah....next time I'm gunna try that.

When I asked Maribel what she wanted to do this summer she only said that she wanted to fly a kite so I had to come up with the rest of the list and let's face it, I'm just one big kid trapped in a Mommy's body so this summer is gunna be F-U-N! Oooya!

Our summer list includes:
Fly a kite (which you already know)
Have a bubble blowing contest (which we haven't done yet despite what the picture shows ;-) )
Visit Daytona Beach
Have BBQ Nights
Ride the local Farris wheel (she's been begging me to ride it. begging.)
 Have elaborate sundaes on Sundays
Play with the hose
Visit a local zoo
Halt the ice cream truck and partake
Look at family photos at night using a projector and eat popcorn
Visit St Augustine
Have toothpic races when it rains ('cause let's face it, we live in Florida. It's gunna rain.)

berry pick'n

With spring ending and summer approaching I can't help but miss the sweet spring things like Maribel's boysenberry feet because this girl refuses to wear shoes outside. It's like pulling teeth to keep shoes on these tootsies.

She attended a friends birthday party back in April and had so much fun with all the activities but her favourite was picking the boysenberries right off the tree and munching as she picked. Of course her shoes were no where to be found so her feet turned a nice boysenberry blue, or is it purple?

I've been working hard at using up some paper and embellishment stash and found these flowers that I bought once upon a while ago...It feels great to use up what I have. I just hope I'm not too late for the Spring cleaning thing because I have two days scheduled to do just that. Part of me can't wait while the other part is thinking of other "more fun" things to do instead...we'll see who wins in the end. Wish me luck!

just fleeting by

This girl really knows how to make me forget all the little messes she likes to make when no one is looking when she turns on the charm. She sure can make my heart sing.

I have found my mojo so I took it and ran. Like a fat kid in a candy store that's been on a diet for far too long...

I created this page for a challenge to create your own patterned paper and bobbly bits so of course I was ready to rise to the challenge. Other then the few alphas and the dymo labled journaling everything was created from good ole card stock. It wasn't easy but it sure was fun.

Journaling reads (since it's hard to photograph)
there are days when I wish time would hurry and pass and then I wake up and realize i don't want to miss a single fleeting moment.

a cinderelly wardrobe malfunction

Maribel is a great sink washer. She really is. She was so excited to wash gma's sink that she rushed her business forgetting to double check a couple things. Since my camera was within arm's reach I couldn't help myself. I wonder if Cinderella ever had this issue?

Of course I will be saving this photo for a later date. Like when she brings guys home to meet her awesome parents, later. Yup. I'll be that mom. Don't judge.

oh sunshine how I love thee...for now

Summer is coming!! as I say that in my high pitched singing voice. And I have to say that I am enjoying the love that the sun has been pouring over us! Normally I'm grumbling and griping about the heat wishing it was winter in Florida all year round but today at least I am in the mood for some sunshine!

As I add banners and clothes lines to my various scrapbook pages I can't help but wonder how nice that would be to hang the laundry to dry on an outdoor line. I imagine the summer breeze caressing the sheets and summer dresses has they hang from wooden clips and Maribel giggling as she weaves in and out of each hanging garment saying "Mommy come and catch me!"

*inhale*....but then the "glass half empty" side of me barges in and flashes the reality of hanging clothes outside in the Florida heat with squirrels running along the line leaving little dirty feet tracks as it goes and the feral cats thinking that the hanging linens would be ideal for scratching on and my whitest of white sheet catching on Maribel as she runs through only to fall and be drug through the grass where the fire ants can hitch a ride and wreak havoc with their wicked biting and then a flash rain hits drenching everything in the 5 minutes it's there rendering the clothes unclean and needing to be rewashed. *exhale*
Yeah...guess I'll continue to do laundry the way I've been doing it all along and leave the cute clothes lines to my scrapbook layouts.

But how cute are these puffy fruit guys, eh? Aren't they just the stinking cutest?

And their puffy too! squish squish Yay for a new month and happy things!
