hockey night in Tampa, FL

Being a Canadian living in the states for these some odd years there have been a few things that have oh-so-gently and quietly slipped away and have been replaced with US of A.....things. Things such as calling pop 'soda' and asking where the 'restroom' is versus calling it the washroom and I now 'fix' supper instead of making supper and I may or may not have picked up a bit of a southern accent. If you ask a few members of my family they will say I've gone "American" while several people down here tease me whenever an "eh" slips out. I can't help it when I'm tired or excited....it just happens. But you throw a hockey game in the mix and all my US-isms go out the door and my true red and white roots come right back as though I never left!
I think the last time I attended a live hockey game was 1992 (give or take a couple of years) with my Dad and so I know that I was over due big time. My timing couldn't have been more perfect since my home team was in town playing against the Tampa Bay Lightning Thursday night.
It totally made my day to see several blue and orange jerseys mingled in with the dark blue and grey Lightning colours. I wore my 'away' colours this game and wore them with Edmonton pride. We definitely got our money's worth with the game ending in a shoot out. Talk about intense...aye ya yi!
 ^^^#1 Fan^^^
gotta love classic self portrait shots! ♥
Nosebleed seats or not I am so happy I went and that I had the best Orlando native with me cheering away just as hard and just as loud. Ultimately our team lost this game but that didn't take away any of the fun we had that night! One thing is for sure, when I go back home this fall to my hometown I will be picking up some Oilers regalia like foam fingers and toques.Team spirit baby!!!

ponch row

Last night was my surprize Christmas present from my bff Jen and Thank You just doesn't seem to cover it. When we pulled into Universal Studios I still had no clue what we were doing or seeing until we stopped at the front entrance way. That's when I clued in. I about had a freak out right there but when she said we were "Front Row Center" that's when I lost it!!!

All I can say about the show is that it's FREAKING AWESOME!!! If you ever have the chance to see them, definitely do it. You won't be disappointed! But they do like to chew things up and spit them out. a lot. Jen and I both said "ewwwwww" several times in the show. Especially when they shot out mushed bananas at us. Lucky Jen got some in her mouth!!! *gag*

So a huge Thank You to my bestie Jen for taking me out for the time of my life!
I know it ate her up inside to keep it a secret from me for that long. *giggle* Me love you way Mucho!
And if you couldn't guess what show we went to see, it was the Blue Man Group. Heck ya!!!!

things happen in 3's

it's true! And Friday (yesterday) was my day!

First thing, Joe and Maribel came home from North Carolina and when Maribel opened the door and saw me she said, *huge gasp* "MOMMY! MOMMY!!!" and dropped her Twilight Turtle and ran to give me the biggest hug I have ever received from her, EVER!!! I didn't want to let go. I almost cried.

2ND thing; I am still in shock that my fellow coworkers chose me as the Information Technology's Employee of the Year 2009. I was presented with the plaque at my work's All Staff Meeting yesterday. I teared up and am flattered beyond words, I mean seriously? Me???? It really means a lot to have even been considered for it let alone chosen.

And for #3....my dad called to let me know that they are now on the road and are on their way to sunny Florida!!!! I can't wait to see my Daddy again.

I'm so glad when daddy comes home,
Glad as I can be;
Clap my hands and shout for joy,
Then climb upon his knee,
Put my arms around his neck,
Hug him tight like this,
Pat his cheeks, then give him what?

A-great-big-kiss! MUAH

Have a wonderful weekend! We're off to pick out some pumpkins!

hello hello -hola!

I'm in a place called Vertigo....well, actually I am in a place called Tampa, Florida.

I swear they were singing right to me! with over 70,000 other people around! *sigh* I can still hear the ringing and feel Bono's sweat that hit the stands! Along with the sweat of the dozen people brushing up against me to the music. Mmmmm eewwww!

Pam, Me, and Jen

We left Orlando at the squeaky hour 8:30am and arrived in Tampa at 10:45a not really looking forward to the 95f feeling like 115f blegh! heat but man oh man, it was definitely worth every sweaty, stinky, memorable moment because we made it to the front row! Oh yeah, and the concert?
fan-friggin-tacular!!!

Hi-lites *oh where to even begin...

~ Making it to the inner circle, can we say Front Row?!?!? Sorry, but it's worth repeating a few times!
~ Seeing the Muse as the opening act! Awesome!!!
~ The energy from U2 really is a once in a lifetime experience!
~ The large diet coke after the show. It was the best tasting diet cola in the whole wide world!
~ I will definately see them again! and again, and again...

Non-Hi-Lites *yes, there were a few unfortunate to say

~ The 97F with humidity and heat index of 105F with absolutely no cloud in site. Except for one that received a standing ovation!
~ Mr. Personal Bubble Invader
~ Being packed into the arena walkway like sardines for 3 hours, I'm sure breaking several fire code regulations. There was no air circulation so we were breathing everyone else's exhale. Ew doesn't even come close to an appropriate word.
~ The "dropped rose" that wasn't so rosey in non cycled air. I can still smell it!

Hello Hello, (hola)

Come Heck or High Water!!!

I had to stay home from work today because of my uber painful back, but it is getting better. Slowly, but every little improvement is alright with me which is good because tonight was my class at my local scrapbook store. That's right! I was not going to accept "store credit" for missing the once in my lifetime chance to meet Kelly Goree from Basic Grey!

I put on my modern girl mu mu and grabbed a wet towel (for my back) and off I went! I was beyond excited! So after I settled down in my spot for the night I grabbed my camera and asked Kelly if she wouldn't mind posing with me. She of course sweetly obliged. The class was awesome! She shared some techniques she uses and told the story of how Basic Grey got started.

There was no way I was going to let my 2nd degree burns stop me from enjoying my Mother's Day gift which is one I will remember for my lifetime!

This is my finished album titled "My Child" using the "Porcelain" line from BG!

*edited to add: Look who's on Kelly's blog? Can you see me?!?!?!? Yeah Baby!

ROCK ON SISTA!!!!

On Friday my awesome SIL and I went to see The Veronica's out at St Pete.
YA BABY!!!
The drive down was long and with very full bladders we made it in 2 hours with three wonderful clumps of Friday rush hour traffic. But we were able to make it on time plus with Princess Parking to boot!

Of course we had to take the classic together posed picture while we waited in line. Notice the shirt Anna is wearing? Yeah, there was this chick ahead of us that had the same shirt on.
Naturally Anna wore it better ;0) Luv ya hun!

She also wore these sassy heals thinking that we would be sitting but when we got inside it was standing only so needless to say she made the mad dash to the car for comfort over fashion. Good choice Anna!
Oh and I got asked if I was 21! *sigh* I just thanked the bouncer for making my evening! Oh to be 21 again!

When the Veronica's came on stage there was the mad rush that squished us all together like crumpled sardines. I grabbed Anna's arm so I wouldn't lose her. Here are some pics from the concert! After awhile they all started looking the same. I mean what would you expect, they sing so it's not like you could tell what song was what.

I love that they wore $5 tee shirts! True rock stars!

And of course the concert rocked!!! And very hot!

Just look at that shine! No, wait. Don't look at that shine! *blush*
